DISCOVERY

After reaching out to us through our inquiry form or a discovery call, we'll provide detailed information and understand your unique gifting needs.

KICK-OFF

When you're ready to proceed, you'll sign and pay our design services retainer (credited towards your total purchase) and complete our design questionnaire.

DESIGNING

Using the details you provide, we'll create a comprehensive gift concept, typically delivered for your review within 2-5 business days.

REVIEW & FINALIZE

After reviewing the concept, you can give feedback and request revisions; we offer two rounds of revisions at no extra cost. (Usually only one round is needed.)

PRODUCTION

Once the concept is approved, the contract signed, and payment received, we handle product procurement, custom packaging design, and all the necessary details.

DELIVERY

After assembling the gift boxes and receiving recipient addresses (via our Excel template), we wrap and pack the boxes before shipping them.

Timeline: Non-peak months (end of January to mid-October) require a 5-6 week lead time, while peak months (mid-October to end of January) may need 7-8 weeks or more, depending on volume. We can sometimes accommodate shorter timelines, so please contact us to discuss your specific needs.


Custom Gifting FAQ

What is the minimum order?

For custom gifts, our minimum is $3000 in spend at $60+ per box, excluding shipping and sales tax.


If your budget is below $60 per gift, we recommend you give an Oak City Gifts gift card. You can send up to 100 gift cards at a time using our system. Be sure to add on a complimentary video message to really make it personal!

How much should I plan to spend? What do I get for $X?
We have experience creating gifts from $50-$2,500+, but most frequently we create custom gifts in the $75-$150 price range, with $100-$125 being the most common spend amount. 

In terms of what you get for a given dollar amount, we recommend perusing our curated gift box collection for a general sense, taking into account that custom packaging will add around $10 per gift box to the retail price listed. The guide below also may be helpful to you. It is not intended to be exact or a guarantee of what you will receive, but it gives an idea of what is likely going to be in a gift box at a given price point.

Our goal is to provide you with the best value gift, regardless of your budget. Whether you have a fixed amount or a flexible budget, we offer options to help you make an informed decision, maximizing the value you get for your money.


If you're unsure about your budget, we will collaborate with you to narrow down a range that aligns with your preferences and the distinct opportunities available at various price points. We aim to pinpoint the perfect gift from the get-go, saving you time and eliminating unnecessary hassle.

What is included in the cost?

The per-box cost we provide in our concept proposal includes service, labor, and materials. That includes creative design, product procurement, boxes/packing/shipping materials, and fulfillment labor. Sales tax (for NC and UT billing addresses) and shipping are the only costs not included. 


Note: Our $350 design services retainer fee is credited in full towards your purchase and does not add to your per-box spend.

What is the retainer fee?

Once all of the initial discussions have been held and information has been provided to where you would like to move forward working with us, we will send you a retainer agreement to sign, along with a link to pay the non-refundable $350 design services retainer fee. This locks in our design team's time to work on your project and is credited in full towards your total purchase. (It is not an additional fee or cost.) Once we receive the signed agreement and retainer fee payment, we'll get to work designing your gift box concept!

When is payment due? What payment methods are available?

Because of the custom nature of the gift boxes, payment in full is required prior to us proceeding with purchasing any inventory and  custom packaging for your order. Should payment be delayed, it may affect the overall timeline. We'll do our best to mitigate that, but prompt payment is appreciated. 


We accept any major credit card, EFT payments, or wire transfers.

Are high-dollar luxury gifts available?

For ultra-luxe gifting of $500+ per gift, please contact us.

How much lead time is needed?

We make it a point to not overpromise and under-deliver, so lead times are very important.


Non-Peak Months (end of January to mid-October): We ask for a minimum lead time of 5-6 weeks for most custom gift box orders.

Peak Months (mid-October to end of January): Our lead time may be 7-8 weeks or higher, depending upon volume. 

How long does the custom gift process take?

Under normal conditions, this is a general timeline of seeing the custom gift process from start to finish:


Design/Final Concept: 1-2 weeks, so long as we receive feedback, files, approvals, etc., back promptly.

Inventory & Packaging Procurement: 1-2 weeks after payment is received in full.

Assembly & Shipping: 1-2 weeks after inventory and packaging arrives, though order volume and time of year can extend that.

How are shipping addresses collected?

We supply an Excel template for gathering recipients' shipping addresses. Please fill it out and return it to us promptly to avoid any shipping delays. If there are errors or missing information, we'll reach out for corrections.


To expedite the process, we recommend starting on the template as soon as it's received, which is usually after gift concept approval. We can provide it earlier if needed.


For orders exceeding 50 gifts, consider our Shoppes program, which offers customized gifting without the need for collecting addresses.

Do you ship gifts to individual recipients or only to one location?

We typically ship gifts directly to recipients, but we can also send them all to a single location for you to distribute. We're flexible; for instance, we can send bulk gifts for local employees to you and ship individually to remote ones.

Can you ship internationally?

We ship anywhere in the world that UPS, FedEx, and USPS delivers. We also complete all of the customs forms for you at no additional cost.
